Anyone have a custom bow cover made for your cruiser

Stan...Is this what you have in mind? I think this is a 420/44DA...I kept the picture of, because I thought it was kind of cool. It would definitely keep the spider poop off off of the boat. I dont know who made it.

Here is a stern cover on the same boat....

I have to say there's something I've never seen or even heard of in my life.

Well the reason I am considering this is because my slip takes a lot of the afternoon sun. Also my bow extends about 2 ft beyond the slip. With water running off the roof directly unto the bow, I just think that overtime damage will be done.

Just trying for some preventive steps.

Jeff: Something similar, but not quite as large. I am thinking of a cover that only goes about half way up the bow. Probably cover the hatch and end there.

This is the first time I've ever seen this too. In my opinion, the current setup is superfluous at best and to a small degree will prevent drainage and trap moisture with the canvas laying "somewhat" flat against the foredeck. That canvas will look like used toilet paper after a couple of seasons and a bow foredeck can be cleaned very easily with a little scrubbing. (Much easier to clean foredeck than the canvas covering it).

What might make a bit more sense would be to tighten the canvas above the rails with poles to allow good drainage. (Somewhat like the cockpit canvas).

Having it lay loose again the foredeck seems crazy........... Am I missing something here?

Edit: Actually, I noticed that the boat is under a covered slip where moisture and rain may not be a big problem. This may make sense if you really don't want to be cleaning bird/spider poo, dust, etc. everytime before using.

I personally wouldn't worry about going this far.

I am looking at doing something very similar for the weather protection you mention you desire. I was going to make it out of ripstop and have it fit over the railing and hardtop and cinch shut like the hood on a jacket. I have a lot of projects to complete before that one gets to the top of the list though.

My boat is 25 years old and has spent it's life in the water. I buffed below the rub rail this spring before putting it in the water and it shines like new. Gel coats have come a long way in the last 25 years, so I can only imagine your boat will hold up better than mine. So, the bow cover seems kind of superfluous. I'm sure there will be plenty of other things on the boat that cost money soon enough, no need to think up new ones.

Too much hassle to take that thing off everytime you go out. I'm way too lazy for that and for me, it'd be another thing to remove/disconnect, which may cause me to stay in the slip more. Besides, I sort of enjoy my bi-monthly Sunday morning boat washing ritual :)

If spiders are the issue there is a much better way. I spray my slip twice a year and have no spider poop on my boat while my slip neighbors are covered.

Alex...what do you spray with? Our marina says they spray monthly, but I still have spider poop on my boat.

I cannot imagine going to this extreme for Spider poop. Thats a butt load of canvas to store somewhere when on or out of the slip!

Also, installing a gutter over your slip will keep water off of your bow somewhat if your nose stick out of the slip.
