Anyone tried Chinese diesel air heater? Cheap!

Had one of these in a Same Tractor, Air cooled engine. did not work unless you baby sit it.

No offense to the Chinese but there quality is crap. People try to go cheep with there supplies and end up just throwing it away and buying the real quality one. If it was fuel or water running through it and its on your boat I would run away. Im speaking from experience from construction. Everything the contractor ever gave me that was Chinese made was a horror show (instalation and life span).

Actually, I just bought one and the first thing I did was bench test it. For a Chinese product I was quite impressed. Lots of heat, quiet and a good control system. Not all Chinese products are crap. You just have to do your homework before buying. I just posted to see if anyone has installed one of these on a 240 Sundancer.

Yeah, I remember long ago when Japanese stuff was thought to be junk. Then Toyota, Sony, Nikon, etc. took over those respective markets. Chinese quality is improving. I put in one of their diesel heaters a couple of months ago and it's operation has been flawless. I have read that most issues are related to amateurish installations. Can't fault the Chinese for that. If people bother, there are some excellent YouTube videos that guide you through safe installation and operation.

I hear the Russian products are starting to show quality and cost improvements too. Another communist country to consider putting your American dollars in to.
I guess we haven’t smartened up after an 8 year old thread... and an economy crippling and a murdering China caused pandemic

Your hysteria, embracing of mis-information and anachronistic fear are breath-taking! The pandemic "murdering" is fully attributable to the incompetence of Trump.

You know your post makes no sense...let’s start with “anachronistic“...learn English ...the rest is absurd.
But I am interested in how many gallons your diesel heater gets to the mile ?
Aww, Blueone. No dictionary or poorly educated? I'll help: it means belonging or appropriate to an earlier period, especially so as to seem conspicuously old-fashioned. e.g. your fear of communism, Russia and China. You're quaint!

You guys suck at pretending to be American .... where is the dog now?

No one is pretending, bud. You do not read - just below the avatars it clearly says North Vancouver for Mark and Comox for me. Or are you drunk and bleary-eyed?

I installed a 5k unit a month ago in our 245. Pretty impressed with it. Didn't open it up but it looks identical on the outside to the same size Wabasto units. Guessing their parts are likely interchangeable. We have 5 days/3 nights on the boat already this year with snow on 3 of those days.
I bought a nice through hull for it, eliminated the cheap muffler and added a couple additional vents. All in was $400 CAD.

Where did you install it? On my 08 240 Sundancer I am looking at installing it under the aft sink. only issue is running ducting to forward cabin?
There is a closet in the rear starb corner of our cabin. The heater is tucked in the void (basically behind rub rail) in it. I ran a duct up to the front behind the wall panels with 2 vents in the main cabin and one in the bow. I glassed in a couple mounts to support it's bracket and a heat shield, thru hulled the exhaust and added a return air vent from the cabin into the closet. It turned out to be a real clean install and worked out great in our boat. With the closet door closed, the only thing you can hear is the faint pulse of the fuel pump. The CO detector has never registered anything and probably have 15 days of run time on it. 5 were on the water. Can take a few pics later and post them here if you like.

Here is a few pics of what I did. Our boats are a fair bit different I am sure. I have generous access behind the panels and was able to route the ducting behind the starboard rub rail the length of the cabin without much difficulty. I installed the Y's backwards so the farthest vent (windshield) did not run out of air. All 3 vents evenly share the hot air. Sorry for the sideways pics.

Should add, there originally was an old propane heater in this boat. It exhausted just below the back window. Didn't like the thought of using it or their choice of exhaust location. It was removed and the exhaust hole glassed over. I did use the screen from that old heater for a temporary shield for the new one.

That would be great, I'd like to see them
Pics were posted if that's what you are referring to? The unit is still running like a champ. We used it almost every outing to remove the morning condensation in the cabin.
