Anyone use these? Spurs

My father has them on his boat and loves them although they have never been "officially" tested. We have not picked up any crab pots either. Wish I could be more help but I would suspect they are better than nothing...

The spurs look like a fine product, but if the objective is trouble-free boating, to disregard the obstacle course of pots and junk, then I don't think the 1½" shaft on your boat has enough umph to permit that type of cruising.

Plus, it's easy enough to swim under and clear stuff when required.

I had hoped to install these on my 03 420DA. I do not set the AP and forget about running over crab pots, but at dusk, where the friendly crab fishermen have painted their floats black, the float can be really hard to see.

Unfortunately, the fitting of line spurs is fairly precise, and there was (is) insufficient space between the strut and prop hub on my boat to install the spurs.

So--no spurs. And as to ease of swimming under the boat to clear a fouled prop-sir, you have never seen the Anacostia River in the nation's capital. I will call Sea Tow before I go in that water.

The bulls really seemed to respond to them when I kick the crap out of them.

I talked to the manufacturer. He said that every Sea Ray he's seen does not have enough space between the prop and strut to install spurs. I checked Just Ducky and he's right. Not enough space.

Best regards,
Frank

I have them on my boat from a previous owner and they work great. I have backed over floating line twice and instead of fouling the props, the spurs sliced the line neatly...
A little overkill where I boat, but they were there when I purchased. There are a couple of zincs that need to be changed, but they have performed very well.

The models that are installed on my 300 have room to spare.
