This might not have been the captain's fault. Maybe his GPS and depth sounder and radar and knot meter were slightly off and then his wife phoned him to tell him that dinner was on the table just when the accident happened.

Is that the mouse island by catawba? We spent many a summer swimming at pebble beach and catching fish off the shore right there. Can't believe it's been run up on so often, although I can see why with all the traffic around there.
