Finally launched the for the season (latest as I was looking for parts). I noticed the noise coming from the pump. After some diagnostics, I learned that the pump pushes the water out to a vertical outlet, but some of the water will remain in the hose. The water drains back to the box and a rubber flapper stops the water and the water remains in the hose. Basically, the rubber flapper which stops the water from coming back into the plastic box is out of position and almost impossible to put back in the hose. Any ideas on how to fix this? The pump runs fine if there is a consistent flow when there is a lot of water. has anyone added a check valve instead of the rubber?

I thought Whale branded check valves were ubiquitous on Searays?

I think what you are looking for is the little anti-siphon valve (Xylem?) that goes into the drain tube? I replaced mine several years ago and I found it at West Marine. As I best remember, it was a $5.00 part with a $10.00 shipping as it came from their warehouse in Arizona..

Thank you for the update. I will check it out.

The info was on my older pc.
Check Valve for Shower Drain Box
Model #4353553
Mfg #1240R
Cost: $5.99
Shipping: $9.99

Hope this helps.
That is exactly what I was looking for. Now I have to find it. WM does not have it!

I have the same sump and I used one of these nice and small didnt have much room to work with.
doesn't always seal perfectly, but slows the cycling drastically, best if can be in a more vertical section of hose.

Thank you and I was looking at those as well. I found the Rule-1240R on ebay so I ordered one. Hoping for a simple and straightforward replacement!
