Basic boat finish cleaning question.

Fiberglass finish. It needs some cleaning, and I’m guessing polishing.
I have several different products. The directions are confusing me. As I understand it I will write it down and I will be glad to read answers.
1 clean boat finish with water/detergent And rinse off
2 on dry finish, spray or wipe on, let dry.
3 wipe off.
4 use buffer to polish finish.

anything I missing? I mean is this so simple even a caveman like me can do it?

A lot will depend on how bad you gelcoat is and what products you’re using. What I did on my old boat which sat outside in winter was:
wash with hull cleaner and then soap and water.
wax with megiuers cleaner/wax

It the gelcoat needs more work you can
wash
compound
polish
wax
