My 340 Sundancer is on land and I'm looking to warm up my 8.1 motors to give them an oil change (first time as a DIY). In order to get water pumping through the motors to reach operating temperature, do I just place a hose in the bucket where the strainer is with a closed sea cock? Or am I better off with one of those plunger attachments with a hose trying to cover my intake? Please also let me know what type of pressure do I have in the hose with the option you prefer. Thank you in advance.

IMO .option One.
But keep the rpm down and watch your temp.
The plungers can fall off and you never know it till its too late.

I made up a fitting that replaces the sea strainer lid with a garden hose atachment on it. If you're handy with tools, you can find PVC fittings at home depot and make one yourself that will fit into the sea strainer opening. If you do option one, use the largest garden hose you can at full water pressure and only idle the motors. I used a 5/8' hose and the motors nearly colapsed it while running. But it did work fine and I kept my eyes on it while running.

I put a brass tee in near my RW valves. After the Tee I attached a valve with a hose fitting and a brass cap... The set for both engines cost less than 10 bucks. I attache a garden hose with valve shut, start the engine, then open the valve. I have a similar step up for my genny and AC. I use compress Air to blow the water out of the AC lines...

Just so I'm understanding correctly, the sea cock for the thru hull stays in the open position when the motor is running and the hose is flowing water in the strainer bucket? Seems like the water I'm putting in will just go right out via the thru hull, is that not the case?
Thank you

You keep the seacocks closed until you turn the motor off then you can leave it open for the winter. For a permanent solution I installed one of these on each main and gen. To both flush during the season and winterize , it's so simple , and you can use your motors as emergency bilge pumps,, very well made.
