I have 2 batteries on my boat, #1 is starter bat, #2 is house, I’d like to add a 3rd battery, is it possible to just add it on to the #2 battery? Strictly for using accessories like coffee maker, fan, tv, etc?

You sure can. I went from 2 house batteries to 6. We do a lot of anchoring and have 3 fridges. Just get 2 (equal size to original) battery cables made up. Connect the new battery to the house battery, going from negative to negative, & positive to positive. This will keep you at 12 volts, but give you twice the current capacity. This is called hooking them up in parallel. Happy boating !

If the two existing batteries are the same type and age then combine them into the house bank and the new one for the single battery bank 1. You will get much more life from the new battery.

Is your "house" battery currently a DC battery? If it's a good one, you might be surprised just how long that will last. In my 260DA (which would use more power than your 225), I once went 3 days on a G27DC - only ran the engine for about an hour the whole time. Even though it's not best practice to use a DC battery to start the engine, I was experimenting - on the last day, the engine still fired up just fine.

Point is, on a small boat, space is a premium. You can probably do really well just by having the proper setup.

FYI... get a gas grill (Magma, etc) and a French press coffee maker. Trying to make coffee with a 12V powered maker is futile, at best. Heat the water on the grill in a pot. Also, make sure you get a proper fan like the Endless Breeze - lots of air movement with minimal draw.

That’s the exact setup I have lazy, French press works great, I stream movies on my iPad to watch on overnights, and I love the Magma, some reviews say it burns too hot but I’d rather have it too hot than not, I like grill marks on my food, just have to keep an eye on your food so it doesn’t burn. Thanks for the good advice everyone:)
