I bought a 2001 380 Sundancer in 2020. Not sure how long ago the previous owner replaced the batteries, so I'm thinking it's time. Does anyone know which of the 5 batteries are the "house"
& which are the "starting"? Currently there are 5 starting batteries installed.

There's probably two pairs of batteries, one pair for the stb engine and half the house and the other pair for the port engine and the other half of the house. Under that setup there should be an independent battery solely for the generator. Not the best setup, but SeaRay's thinking was that while away from shorepower one would utilize their generator.

I would agree with Jimmy. On my 370 it seams one side runs the cockpit/Dash and one side runs the cabin.

On this boat all 5 are located on the port side. Not sure which are the staring batteries & which are house. They are wired in 2 pairs with a single next to them.
Thanks for your reply!

You can just about figure as is indicated above, 2-are cranking batteries for the starboard engine, 2-for the port, and 1-for the gen. The house is run by either the port or starboard bank and the the other bank runs the dash electronics.

For Sea Rays, there isn't a separate house and starting bank. The port and starboard pairs are a combo House/start. Typically one runs down before the other, and you can use the Emergency Start button to connect the port/star banks together and you should be able to get one engine started, then the other.

The most important battery is the generator battery as this is the starting power of last resort. The generator powers the main battery charger when away from shore power, hence the reason for running the generator, or at least being able to get it started.

Ours came with AGM Group31 Dual Purpose. Replaced all 5 (Port 2 the 1st season and Stbd 3 the 2nd season) Going on our 7th season on those original 5.
