Battery Switch Location

I am the middle of restoring a 1987 270 DA. In looking through the engine compartment, I have found two issues that I need help from a seasoned Sea Ray owner.

The battery switch (Perko) is lying loose in the starboard corner, and feel it should be secured somewhere other than where it is. In the past, (on other brands of boats) I have seen the battery switch located in a convienient place outside of the engine compartment.

The second issue is the bilge blower. It is loose and has broken away from the hose and was lying next to the trim pump. Where is the blower supposed to be located?

Can anyone upload some pictures of where these components are located in their boats?

Thanks to all for your patience with yet another newbie.

I don't have any pictures but the battery switch was I believe on the forward edge of the engine bay just in front of the access panels.
In other words, lift panel to check for fumes and reach in to turn on the batteries.

I moved the battery switch from the engine compartment to a more convenient location on my last boat ( sea ray 220da). I used the same gauge wire (2) and shrink wraped all connections. It is important to choose a location that will not cause you to add much length to the cables. As far as bilge blower, make sure intake duct draws from close to bottom of the engine compartment and avoid overly long ducting and keep the bends to a minimum.

I really like your idea of moving the switch out of the engine compartment!! Thanks for the photo, it really puts things in a clear perspective when you can actually see the installation.

Last night (while lying on my back with my head stuck into the engine compartment) I found the ducting leading out to the hull vents. I will now look for a good location to mount the fan and ensure the fan intake is routed to the bottom of the engine compartment. Thanks for all the great info!!!

I added an inverter charger to my boat and here is where I installed the battery disconnect switch. It is in between the outside and inside hull on the starboard side. It is not a real good spot for regular access but if I installed a twist hatch on the inside it would work.

Mainly wanted to show you how my blower is run. Here are a couple of pics. You can see the blower just fits in the hose and the hose is mounted using tiwraps.
