I see a lot of discussion on the beam vacuum but not much on the repair when the unit stops working when inserting the hose in the outlet but works manually.
The circuit board in the bottom of the unit fails and that part is discontinued.
I found a company Mid America vacuum that has a replacement board that will work, you have to drill a couple of new holes for the new board, it took me about 30 minutes to complete the installation.
It now works properly.
They also have the replacement bags for the unit
