Bearing buddies.....missing!

A tip for installing bearing buddys or any other press fit items. Place the to be installed part in the freezer for several hours. This will shrink the material enough to ease the install. Be aware of condensation and make sure all is dry before pressing into service. You will be surprised how much .0001 of an inch is when you can either bang away or use a few good controlled hits with a dead blow hammer.

i agree...i have tried that before and it does work well....

Ideally the wheel brgs would be tightened to the point there is no wiggle but also no preload. In practice that spot is hard to hit. An example being the std procedure of backing off to the nearest castle nut slot...you may have a small amount of wiggle because of that. A little loose won't wreck the brg like too tight can. When you initially install the brgs typical procedure is to crank the nut down tight, this is to help make sure all components are seated and excess grease is displaced, then you back it off. Because of that and the 'wearing in' that Red Horse referred to there is another recommended step that is rarely done. That is to go back after using awhile and check brg adjustment...you may find that they're looser and need readjustment. Most people skip this step and only check if it's running hot.

This was exactly what I did. I think it was just time for new BB. I was able to get 1 more slot during my readjustment.

Thank everyone for your input!
