I've got a new mac and I want to edit a song I have in my iTunes library. Anyone have any suggestions? I've been dinkering around with iMovie but I'm not having any luck.. Any thoughts? I am looking to shorten the song, it's a Dave Matthews bootleg with about 3 minutes of song followed by 6 minutes of story all in the same file...

you can try garage band, quicktime. If you want to get something a little more complex, you can try a free program called audacity.

Audacity! I've been using Audacity and a Roland Edirol UA-1EX to copy my LPs to digital media. Many of my LPs were imports or otherwise not available as CDs.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ - Download site

Audacity works with both Mac OS and Linux. There's also a download for something called "Windows." But doesn't say whether that's for casement or double hung windows.

Best regards,
Frank

Amadeus Pro. Worth the few $, it works the best out of any audio program I ever used. You can do ANYTHING with an audio file.

I use it all of the time to take silence out of hidden tracks on cd's, mix songs up, adjust elements in the music, so much...

Put it on a thumb drive, slap it on a Windows system, edit in Media Player, copy back to mac, viola! <ducking> :wow:

As if it were that easy. You forgot six blue screens of death, five system hangs, four program crashes, three upgrades, two missing drivers and a heck of a lot of aggravation.

And a partridge in a pear tree...

Yeah, I had to bite my tongue.... blasphemy - taking a audio/video/graphics/anything-other-than-text file off a mac to work on a peecee.
