Good question . Things clearly spiral out of control since biden managed to show clearly that under his administration everybody is free to bomb us bases / soldiers without any or with just very minor consequences .

So the are basicly two paths : wave the white flag , sign the surrender to the houthis , bail out from the entire region immediately and let houthis / iran control the red sea / suez travel route .

Other path is to take the glooves off and show them who the f..k is in charge .

I do not know . What do you suggest ?

I'm thinking Germany should draft all her young men/women, put them on the ground in the middle east, go door to door kicking ass. Yes, Germany should invest hundreds of billions of dollars into years of fighting, don't let those lucky enough to return maimed though they be, weaken your resolve....after all, it's time to show those towel heads that your bond with Isreal/Jews is not to be fucked with.

I was trying to make a point Ollie. Areobat's solution to everything is always that the US should drop bombs and blow shit up. One time, maybe in this thread, he said it was the USA's 'duty' to do that.

Bush and Obama both encouraged the NATO members to invest more in their military. Trump pushed for it even more strongly. Our NATO partners were slackers, they took advantage of us.

We must be able to rely on each others contribution if there becomes a need. The goal was agreed on, 2% of GDP was to be invested by each country in themselves. While some would have more and some less, in each case equipment and men were to be ready and well trained.

Our European Allies may feel comfortable knowing we are here for them but their weakness puts us at risk. How much bigger a deterrent if they would have each attempted to be a stronger member of the group.

So for almost all of the Ukraine War we have furnish the majority of the munitions. By the second day of the Gaza fight Israel was asking us for more missiles and bombs.

Now Aerobat would like to see us bomb the shit out of Iran, if things are to escalate that's probably were it should be. But then what...Putin is drooling over the Baltic states and Poland is certainly on his wish list. There'll be a limit to what we can do. Is Western Europe-NATO ready?

It'll affect the rest of the world, the US will be the bad guys again, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

Look at Gaza, there's lots of talk/accusations...the US and Israel are committing genocide. Funny how that is reported, things like 26,000 Palestinians dead. How come no one is saying ya' but how many of them are the Hamas, the enemy.

The world pretty much supported Israel at the beginning but now not so much, they've killed too many. WTF does that really mean? Maybe set some quotas on the killing?

Hamas killed lets say 1,200 Jews. So Israel gets to kill lets say 1,320 Palestinians, 10% extra because Hamas attacked first. But it wouldn't be that simple.

Maybe the UN could put in referees to keep count. They'd could tell Israel how many women/girls need to be raped, how many heads need to be chopped off, how many people need to be burned, how many babies need to have their skulls crushed by a rifle butt.

Once the quotas are met the fighting could end, everyone would then go home happy, satisfied they got their revenge.

But that ain't the way it works.

What i would do ? I would not attack iran but i would sink their spy ship and maybe their frigate they have now in red sea . How will they respond ? Try to strike coalition forces ? Yes , but they do it already . Declare war to usa ? No , you can bet .

Depending on military options i would also consider strikes on their nuclear facilities to ar least slow down their programme .

The traffic which is there is mainly connected to chinese business or ships where insurance takes the risk vs higher insurance pay . Major container shipping companies are pulling out .

Let me say that as an european i fully back up your point that its a global problem , not americas alone and this problem should be solved by all allies , not usa alone .
