I just bought some 8 x 20 Big B fenders. Rather than just tying a knot to secure the line in the fender, I bought some of the Taylor doohinkies that fit over the line, then get inserted into the bottom of the fender. They really make a nice clean-looking installation, but I sure hope they dont pull loose when rubbing against the dock. Im going to tie them off on something and try pulling on them to make sure, before I launch and lose fenders.

Curious if anyone else has tried them...

I lost one because the knot at the bottom was small enough to pull through the center tube. Don't rely too heavily on your pull test. I was damn certain it wouldn't pull through, but I turned out to be damn wrong.

Damn I was hoping this would work, did you find a better system?

yep - that is what I am using.

Have had them on some vertical fenders for a year. A lot of "pulling" situations. No problems.

I gave up on fender hangars because they seem to break and always at the wrong time. Also, most of them are slow to allow adjustment of the height of the fender.

I've gone to doing a clove hitch over the bow rail. Quick to tie, quick to untie (especially if you make it a slip knot) and quick to adjust.

Learn how to tie an Ashley’s stopper or the newer EStar stopper. I have the same fenders and an Ashley’s in 5/8” won’t begin to pull through.

I used those on the 270, and they worked well. These are the best actual hangers around.

Curious what size rope you used. Says it would work with 3/8 or 1/2..... what has people been using? I am hoping 1/2" will fit with this in the Big B's

⅜ but that was without the thing-a-ma-gadget (which I now have on order)
