Is there anything "marine" specific to bilge blower tubing? Can you use generic vinyl dryer vent tubing, or is there recommendations due to the possible presence of vaporized gas?

I don't think you will find much difference. If you use the household dryer vent hose just inspect it regularly and watch for signs of deterioration. There are some high quality industrial ducting products on the market that will last much longer. As important as this ducting is on gas powered boats, it's amazing to me how flimsy the OEM ducting is.

You can't use PVC vinyl hose for dryer vents in houses against fire codes must be aluminium!

I used a thick Mylar duct and flexible aluminum tubing to make connections. Aluminum tape at all connections. A buddy of mine made me a small section on duct that fits over the fuel tank, about the size of a 2x4. It keeps the flex tube out of the way.

I check all ductwork each year using canned smoke ( we used it to test smoke detectors)

I honestly don't know and, really, have never even thought about it. What I would suggest, though, is that given the small $ amount that it costs and how inoften it needs to be changed... if there's ANY question, just use the marine stuff. You'll probably sell the boat before you have to replace it again.
