blisters

Take some penicillin. That normally clears them up :smt043:smt043

Basically haul and block the boat, grind out the blister and let it dry out, then re-glass the spot. That's a "winter project".

yep. found some info on the pettit site. penicillin??? i jus grab a barnacle and start scraping. serves as a reminder for next time

People freak out about blisters when they really aren't that big of a deal. If they're a half-dollar size or smaller, grind them out with a grinder or DA Sander, clean them up with acetone once they're dry, fill them in with Interlux Watertite, scuff the surface again with the DA Sander, and paint back over them. Simple job......Unless you have lots of them.

Having repaired several boats with Blisters, all the comments point out grinding open and filling with the Interlux fillers ( or similar material). I would add that I would clean all the paint off the bottom first, opened the blisters leaving them to air out until spring thus the hull would dry over the winter. I would use the Interlux wash, fill the areas with either a paste of West System or Interlux filler then do a barrier coat. After all that I would apply the bottom paint and basically forget the bottom for a few years before repainting. Blisters are not a big deal unless they are really bad and the core is soaked with water then you have a real issue :smt089
