Boat delivery costs??

Hi All,
New to the forum and proud new owner of a 1990 25ft Sundancer.
My boat is in Charlton, MA and it needs to be shipped or trailered to Buffalo,NY. (approx 340miles)
The previous owner has offered delivery for 1.50 a mile.
I was wondering if thats a good deal or am I getting hosed?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

That's not that bad... my dealer want $480 for 90 miles. I do have a bigger boat though.

Welcome! Why not put it on a trailer and ship it yourself? I did. A great adventure.....

Well, lessee...
If the tow vehicle got 15 mpg, figure at least $150 for RT fuel costs alone. If he's only charging one-way for the delivery, that's a hell of a deal for $500. Considering that it probably involves an overnight in a motel, and meals...there isn't a lot left ($350) after fuel costs. Would you do it for that??

I was quoted $3/mile , which is about the going rate.

It has a trailer, but I don't have the beefy truck to haul it with!

Sounds like a great deal to me ! Will he be insuring the boat during transfer ? Close the deal upon delivery !!!

Not sure about the insurance but I'll find out.
Money will exchange hands at delivery.

Sounds like a decent price to me... and I agree as stated, checking the insurance coverage... congrats!
