Received an email from Boat/US today. They're doing a survey about "boater's rights." This is yet another pile of bovine dung from them.

Everyone wants their "rights." Rights to every damned thing under the sun. ...and where the sun don't shine, too probably. A right to "products that do not harm the environment when operated properly." If that's a big deal to you, then don't buy the efing product! If someone doesn't treat you with respect, don't do business with him. How damned stupid are these people at boat/us? I think it's time to stop supporting this bunch of politically correct jerks with my membership dollars. Their minds have rotted by being too close to the pols in DC.

Best regards,
Frank

amen. the right to not be bothered by pointless stupid e-mailed surveys comes to mind. you have the right to vote with your dollars. i get the feeling you won't be voting for them much longer.

. But you're right on that.

After 10 yrs, I pulled the plug on my membership this spring. I looked at them as beauracrats (sp?) rather than boaters.

I was wondering if anyone would catch this. They want a new right to, "products that do not harm the environment when operated properly." Let's posit that this global warming mania is true. Therefore this new right would prohibit the sale of diesel fuel and gasoline since, based upon the posit of global warming being valid, burning fuel would harm the environment. Do we really need idiots like this "representing" us?

Best regards,
Frank

I might tend to agree and disagree

While Boat US has become political, their Government affairs have done much to keep the democrats in check. like the ethanol issue, and helped stop an issue down here in Florida that would allow marinas to be taxed at the same rate as what a bazillionaires house would be taxed, making it virtually impossible for small marinas to stay in tact, and allowing the rich f%^kers to further develop the coast line for other rich f%^kers. The bill didn't pass, thanks in part to Boat US

see above for more......

How many of us have the time or clout to rattle the cages of oir representative, as worthless as most of them are, to get this stuff done?????

just my $.02

It went over my head....given how much political back peddling is done these days, "I'm sure that is not what they meant".

fxsales: I guess I'm to the point where I just can't stand the politcal arena....lobbyists in particular. While Boat/US has done beneficial work for coastal communities, on the Upper Mississippi you can't find a gas dock or marina that will honor any kind of fuel or service discount if you are a Boat/US member....so I said hell with it. I gave my $25 to Jim here at CSR instead.
