I am trying to diagnose what broke after I hit a small log (2"-3" diameter) on the way home from DC. The boat still runs and drives, just sounds bad at high speeds. I checked the props and there is no visible damage, just a few scuffs from the log. Anything over 10 mph it starts to sound like a propeller plane, it also feels like it is slipping. I figured one of the propellers had bent which would have caused the noise/vibration but they appear to be fine. Anyone have any ideas?

I would not operate the boat again until a mechanic looks at the drive. It sounds like a bent shaft or chipped gears if it's whining. Best to get it checked out. something is not right.

Bravo 3 uses stainless props, so a good hit can destroy anything between them and the engine. Gears, clutch, shaft, bearings, coupler, all are culprits at this time. Don't run it unless you are ready to just replace it.

I dealt with this last year. Damaged clutch and gears. $2600 repair...its a big one.

I hit large wake while on water, after coming down hull slammed water abit, then starboard side engine was way over rpm with no propulsion. Figured prop got out of water or possibly hit something, torqued and broke the hub sleeve

the rpm at First two "notches" on the starboard throttle are normal, but at the third "notch" the rpm jumps significantly higher than normal, fourth notch large jump also

I am seeing the quick spike in rpm even with the engine in neutral, which is making me think I have another problem beyond just the prop

Madifanzo - did you see this with your damaged clutch and gear situation ?

no...my drive was damaged and stuck in forward gear. I couldn't shift to neutral...found to be gears and clutch your damaged. The damage to my drive was a result of shifting from F to R too quickly...we think.

your issue sounds like a spun prop. I think it will grab at lower RPM But is slipping once you put some torque behind it. I am just speculating based on what I have researched. Others may have a better opinion.
