Does anyone know the size of clips needed for the VHF antenna pole, or mast light pole??? To attach a Burgee Flag....

Clips Fits 3/4" Pole: #TAY 57926
Clips Fits 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" Pole: #TAY 57928

3/4" seems small

i use plastic ty=wrap with hole....secure to pole/antennae...use clip to attach to tywrap hole ...quick/cheap/easy on/off.imho

Sounds good,

I understand the first part about the Ty-Wrap through the hole of the burgee then attached to pole /antenna, but what keeps it from sliding down the pole/antenna?? or just make it tight enough not to slide down?

Bill,

I'm using this flag holder purchased in WM.

I've got the one from WM as well - came with the boat and I've never actually used it. Just to clarify - the US flag or I guess it is Ensign on a vessel is flown from the stern of the boat. What if you have a burgee or in the case of my kids, they want a pirate flag of some sort as well. If you have something on the VHF antenna then it will be higher than the Ensign. Doesn't seem right. Does the burgee go on another flag pole at the bow?

Mine (CSR) went on the bow. The bow railing was configured with two SS loops for the burgee. I just used plastic wire ties to attach the burgee to the rail loops.

From wikipedia:

The position of honour on a ship is the quarterdeck at the stern of the ship, and thus ensigns are traditionally flown either from an ensign staff at the ship's stern, or from a gaff rigged over the stern.
The usual rule that no flag should be flown higher than the national flag does not apply on board a ship: a flag flown at the stern is always in a superior position to a flag flown elsewhere on the ship, even if the latter is higher up.

I don't use any clips, just the white nylon electrical ties which are trimmed after the install. I did use stainless clips on a prior boat but the stainless hit the VHF antenna so much that it chaffed it. If you must use a clip, wrap the antenna with white, waterproof sail tape in the area of the burgee so the dings occur on the tape and not the antenna. Nylon is degraded by UV so I change them out every year, or after a change in burgee.

This is a good one from West Marine. Do NOT get the cheap one that just wraps around the rail. I had one to break and it and nearly took out my windshield.

Yeap, 100% don't use cheap stuff or you'll waste your money. Make sure to know size of rail and get proper size setup.

I have burghee on VHF secured with wire ties as well. Tighten them well and trim. Works fine but you have to replace ties every year.

I have the nice WM mount on the bow (CSR Pennant) and stern (Flag) - transom locker. They have been great.
