Well this was a sad day….. the new owner wanted the name ….. put it in the offer and I pushed back ….. he eventually said okay….. and I peeled it off today….. a bit naked right now

Onward and upward. I understand your sentiment though. It is hard for me to consider moving on from my boat that has given me zero problems and started every time I pushed the button. But It's gonna happen. Best of luck with the purchase of the next one. Get a new car at the same time and you can make new old memories...

It’s going well… I figured out the tax evasion ….. my boat listed on Saturday and was sold yesterday for asking …sight unseen….actually it didn’t even make it to the internet…. Broker knew a guy…. That was surprising. Almost done on the new one
That’s great @Blueone! Must be all the coats of shinny Smouve product that sealed the deal. Congratulations!

Is there a boat (transferring) renaming ceremony in the near future?

Will you keep the new one at the same marina? Guessin it's also a local sale.
No marina said it was too big. They wouldn’t give all or part of my money back or let me sublet it or leave it empty…. And they have a waiting list
They were nice to me when I was there and paying for service…….. just don’t try to leave

I would do what @techmitch suggested. Stick a rowboat in the well for the summer.

I agree with the other. Put some POS boat in there. It's unjust enrichment. Maybe they'll get the message.

Or better yet a party barge and invite all your "friends.'

No they have that covered too. It has to be the boat assigned to the slip.
I’m just going to say the engine is being rebuilt… that should get me a few months

I bit trite, but you check out anytime you like but you can never leave!

I'm surprised by that marina. I'd expect it at your last one.

So you can't switch boats? Contractually I would think it's yours until you affirmatively give it up. Should be able to identify a "new" boat to go in there, no?

Last one was nazi germany. This current one I have been told Jack the owner does not have the best reputation but he was fine with me up to last week

Many years back I had a friend that wanted to cancel his RV space at the storage yard early. They would not let him, but right after he left, they brought in a new tenant. He took pics of the new RV in his space and sent to the attorney general. Attorney general cited a law that you can't rent the same space to two parties, and threatened to take legal action if funds were not returned and future rent payments cancelled.

This squares with a marina I had a slip with that had one year minimum policies. When I asked about leaving they said I would have to keep paying until a new tenant signed. In this case there was a waiting list, so I signed and hoped for the best. When I did leave, they notified me a couple weeks later they had a new tenant, and I was released from the obligation. Maybe this was a good faith offering, or maybe they knew of this supposed prohibition of leasing the same place to two parties.

Anyway, might be worth looking into what the city, county, and state laws are in your area. What they are expecting certainly does not feel right.

That’s actually the law — called unjust enrichment. The marina has a duty to mitigate their damages. Thus, if the can re-lease they have to. Only scumbags would try to keep two rent payments.
