C. D. player will not play

We have a 1997 270DA with a Clarion stereo system. It has a built in cassett player and a remote C. D. changer. We can't get the C.D. player to work. It will shuffle through the C.D.s but it will not play one. I have been told that we need a certain type of cassett to load first before the C.D. player will operate, has anyone else delt with this problem?

I've never heard of any such thing.

You say the changer "shuffles" the CD's. Does it ever actually load one to be played? Does the head unit display that a single disc is loaded & a trac is playing? ie... "CD 1 T-01"
