Cabin Power / Engine Switches

I was connected to shore power in my slip. All systems good. I am still learning the systems on my 390. I was looking over the electrical panel and both engine switches were energized. I shut both off and when i killed one of them what seemed like all cabin power went out. The lights for sure. I guess i would have thought the cabin would operate separate from the engine switches. Thanks for any input or education.
 
Yes the battery switches. Generator switch is in the middle. Engines either side.
Thats what your supposed to do when you put the boat away when you leave. If you de-energize, the SWITCHED 12 volt systems are off. The unswitched 12 volt systems like bilge pumps are still on, hence, unswitched. I always de-energize when I leave the boat.
