Calling all 360 DA owners

The 360 is a completely different boat. More beam means more room in the billge to work on motors and easier to maneuver because the wheels/ props are further apart. You need to step on both boats to see for yourself.

We had our 360 for five years. I would never describe her as "a slow pig" - the boat is plenty fast. A "thirsty pig" yes. We were never in really rough water but the boat handled really well in all conditions. Planing speed and handling were never a problem. The real comparisons between a 360 and a 340 from our viewpoint were the interior spaces - the additional length and beam make a major difference. The forward stateroom can be closed off from the salon with a sliding door, the head has the "bat cave" plexiglass shower surround, the galley counter is deeper, etc.

I wouldn't call her a slow pig either, we are running 8.1 HO's and for 20,000 lbs loaded she scoots pretty dam good. I have seen WOT 38 mph with plenty of muscle outta the hole and cruise at about 23/24. She has held firm in REALLY crappy weather and some giant waves that kicked up that would rattle your teeth out and we had to run through them. Fuel consumption wise its your normal level for an in my opinion, I for one am happy to pull in and get fuel that means I'm getting some quality time and I'm not at work. The extra beam makes it easier to work in the engine compartments and also gives the stateroom bed just short of a queensize bed. So for anyone over 5'10 that is a REAL bonus

Anyone swap out the fridges yet? Both stock ones are not what they used to be in coldness. The Galley will be first I think. I was just curious how its going to be getting a panel to match or is that not even a consideration these days and how bad a of a job it is.

Didn't replace the fridge, but the new controllers have done the trick. It's like a completely new fridge and freezer in the galley! I'd check those first before I try and plug in new units.

In response to the 36 or 34 - hands down the 36. The additional weight and beam does wonders in seas that aren't always kind. Plus the additional living space and access cannot be compared. The 34 is not a bad boat, just different and for different styles of cruising - in my opinion. As for rough water, delivered mine around the tip of the mitten in 4'-6', with the occasional 8' to keep you awake. Never broke a sweat. She was solid - no pounding or rattling. Definitely a great boat.

Regarding the fridge replacement. When we bought our 2004 420 this past November, the fridge was't working well. Our dealer replaced the original fridge with a new Dometic model with a cherry wood grain panel that's an exact match for the adjacent cabinetry and freezer. I don't know if it's a new panel or if they swapped the original panel into the new fridge, but regardless you should be able to do the same in your 360.

Water system problems....lots of pressure at cockpit sink and the head sink, but a little more than a trickle from the galley sink, both tap and spray wand. The screen at the pump was clean so no blockages. First time we have run into this issue...anybody have an idea? Thanks.

I had something similar in my '07 44da - twice. First time - I had a grohe fixture (yours may be a difft set up). There were clogged screens at both ends of the faucet itself (so make sure you don't have 2) The second time it was a plastic connecter w quick disconnects below the sink that connected the spray hose to the main water feed - looked like it was just a coupler but when I called grohe they advised it can clog and can't be cleaned so needed to replace - it was under 20 bucks on Amazon and simple to change and never acted up again. Good luck.

Just started a survey on a 2006 360... Boat ran great but coming in we lifted engine hatch and heard something coming outbid starboard transmission only in forward from
1000-2500 rpms.... Fluid was clean and it didn't make noise after 2500 or before 1000 and noting in reverse at all... It sounds like something loose and its vibrating/ rattling.... Owner said its been like that and he brought up to his mechanic years ago and he said it was nothing.... He's willing to make a monetary concession... My question is if it's a serious issue does entire engine need to come out of boat or is there room
in 36 to get tranny out without removing...

The only mechanical problems we ever had with our 2003 360 were related to transmission problems, primarily the couplers. You should have the couplers checked to make sure the mounting bolts are torqued correctly, and check if any of the bolts are sheared off. If you do have transmission problems they can be pulled without removing the engines. How do I know? We had it done twice. The 2nd time under warranty to check and rebuild the transmissions after the coupler bolts sheared off.

I was wondering how to open up the windlass. In the sea Ray owners manual, it shows an expanded diagram of the windlass for lubricating, but after I unscrew the nut...I cannot lift up the collar/ring to expose the gearing. Sorry for my lack of mechanical jargon. After 14 seasons, I thought it might be time for some grease.
And before I tear the dash apart, is the lighting integral for the oil pressure gauge or is there a bulb to replace on the back of the unit? thanks

Quick question for the 360 crew .. I have an 05 with twin gas 496s. Has anyone tried the oil drain kit ??

I just did my first oil change and sucking it out was a pain not the quickest process in the world.

Looks like the drain kit (the way it would attach) wouldnt be much better

Thanks ..

Also ... Have a rythmic / "whoosh" on starboard motor ... about every 3 seconds at idle ... I get a loud WOOOOSSSHHHH ... Been so busy changing fluids & filters I havent gotten to it yet ... but what the hell is it .. .

I use a Jabsco portal quick to suck my oil out. I have found it does come out much faster if the oil is good and hot.

I just use the West Marine 6.9qt pump hand pump). Takes about 35 minutes to reach the top of the tank. I know it only gets 7 qts out (fills to the top), but unless there is water in the oil, that should be fine. So far, this has worked great for me.

The whoosh, whoosh.... is normal. If you pull the air filter off and look in the intake on the inner edge it's kind of a square hole. There should be a small square sponge like thing that goes in there. About $2.00. this sponge stops that fire breathing dragon sound. Over time they break down and get eaten by the dragon! Love the 496!!!

I looked it up. Muffler - IAC. Part number 35-863829.
