Can an ice maker be added to cockpit refrigerator? I am referring to those boats which have a cockpit refrigerator, or for that matter even the galley refrigerator. I am guessing you need to run a water line? Use an accessory breaker on electrical panel. I have not looked closely to the refrigerator to see if it already has the mounting holes for an ice maker.

Anyone here performed this modification?

I am thinking it might be easier to just replace the refrigerator with one which has the ice-maker and then just run a water line

It is an either or situation. You can either have a dedicated refrigerator or a dedicated ice maker. I am unaware of any ice makers that can be added to these small fridges.

While i don't know of a unit that can be retrofitted, compact fridge/ice-makers combos DO exist.

U-Line offers them.

I have friends that have them in Cruisers and Formula's, but they're not as happy with them as I expected. I believe the U-Line are AC only (not sure about that). They complain that the temp settings are difficult to set. Some contents are too warm, while others may freeze.

I'll trade you! I was thinking of swapping a fridge for my ice maker.

Thanks, but I think I am just going to look into going this route. Who knows it just might fit into a cockpit storage cabinet. I can also just use gallon jugs of water for the small amount of ice I will be making

But Thanks anyway

This may not be as easy as you think. I pulled the cockpit fridge out of my boat and replaced it with a nice u-line ice maker. This involved a complete rebuild of the the fiberglass locker because the demensions of the two units were just enough different to make the ice maker not fit properly. Since this was a new boat and the dealer had never done a swap on this model before, he figured it would be easy. He now charges about $1,000 for the labor to do a swap when an owner wants a different set up.
