Can anyone tell me what the chrome cover is on the left side of this picture?
I checked the owners manual and can't find an explanation.

For reference, the horn would be shown in the parts manual.

The OP mentioned the owners manual, hence my selection of documentation. The wiring diagram does confirm it's location, though not ideal...as I mentioned.

Thanks all. I recognized the navigation light (very obvious), and had an idea that the chrome cover to the left was a horn, but it didn't work. After tightening a few electrical connections the horn now works and it's obvious where it is. Thanks all.

I'm not totally obtuse, but haven't had much time to spend on the boat, so I'm checking things out little by little.

Hopefully Friday the weather will be good and I'll have some time to take it out. My neighbor, a long time boater, has agreed to go out with me so I'll have a good chance to check most things out.

It is wicked common for horns mounted like yours to fail. Many of us have suffered through the pain. They are pointed up and they love to collect water, it's a no-win.

Generally speaking they will fail at the most inopportune time as well. Up until the boat I have now I've always had an air horn somewhere near the helm, just in case, planning for that dang horn not to work when I need it to most...

I was using your comment as a "starter" - but really meant my comment towards the OP for his future reference.

Another "reference" item... a regular whistle satisfies the CG law and actually works quite well. Orion (and probably others) do make plastic whistles that won't rust, as well. Whistles never lose their "air supply" but handheld air horns are definitely an attention getter!

It sounds like a loose connection fixed your issue. I read somewhere that salt builds up in he horn and spraying WD-40 into the mesh under the holes, and letting it sit a few minutes clears it out. I tried this on my last boat and whola- the duck sound was back!

Wow, so many folks on this forum who are soooo logical! It is alarming obvious from its appearance that it is a double scamratomoter to shine deeply into the sky to attempt a solid communication with all the UFOs that have been spotted lately……..right. :p:p:cool:
