Good Evening -

Not sure if this fits in this area but I am reinstalling the canvas on my 2000 340 and for some reason the forward bimini seems to have shrunk over the winter. This also has affected the fit of the foward strataglass. It was stored on the boat in the cabin and the boat was shrink wrapped. If this is so, is there any way to stretch it (wetting down?) so it fits the framework as before?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks as always,

Mike

Either let it sit in the sun or in your house for a few days and then install on a warm day. I do not thinking wetting will help in anyway, and that would depend on the outside temp when you wet it.

You may find that a snap tool will get you where you need to be much easier than by hand for ill fitting canvas.

Many thanks. Will have to wait a bit. Still a little chilly up here in the north. Hopefully we'll see mid 70's this weekend. Planning a trip west to see air show at Jones Beach featuring USAF Thunderbirds, US Army Golden Nights, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, FA-18 Super Hornets, etc.

Happy Memorial Day to all. Let's not forget what this day is all about. Captain and Crew of "Just Add Water" salute all the men and women who put themselves in harm's way to protect our country and allies. God Bless all of them and their families!

msballin..... Hi, I am also thinking of going to the Air show Sunday. I am a new boater and would like to take the boat with the family but I am a little concern about going. I understand that Zacks bay is the best place to go and watch but gets very crwoded.
Is there a better place? I have gone through the State channel and rubbed bottom a couple of time last year ( updated GPS this winter with new depth sounder and it should help) So I would like a good destination before leaving lindenhurst.
Thanks. John G.

John, I am in the same "boat" as you. Little nervous about taking the trip. I will be leaving Lindenhurst as well. My buddy told me you can take the state channel into Amityville, anchor a little bit out of the channel and still get a great show. I was told the planes make their U-Turn as far out as Babylon. It might now be as nice as Zacks (since most of the stunts are over that Bay) but I'm sure you will get a nice show.

Just an option. I drove from Lindenhurst to Amityville last night to drop by boat off at a Marina for repairs. Its a very fast straight shot west!

Hi John - So sorry not to have been back to the site over the weekend to respond to your question re: Air Show. I'm hopeful you took the challenge and enjoyed what you viewed. Although a late response, I dock in Oakdale and didn't want to deal with the potential bay traffic so I exited out of the FI inlet on Sunday after the fog lifted and traveled via ocean to Jones Beach. Once through the breakers, the water was somewhat lake like. What a show! Have a great summer!
