Cape May to New York!!

I'm assuming you have charts (both paper and electronic) for the trip home. It's really a pretty easy trip from Cape May to New York with your only issue being weather. If you can pick a day with winds that have a westerly component, you'll have smoother seas. However, that being said, much of the swells that come off the ocean are created by weather systems 500 miles away. You'll find the deeper water you are in, the smaller the swells coming off the ocean will be. All in all, I generally run 3-4 miles off shore going up the coast which keeps me in 30-50 feet of water. I think I only have 2 or 3 waypoints set between Cape May and NYC. Sometimes it's flat... sometimes it'll disassemble your boat...

I also assume you cutting through the Cape May canal from the Delaware Bay. You don't want to go around Cape May...

If your going to run close to shore, be sure to pay attention when approaching any inlets as thats where you will find shoaling.

There's a mooring area in front of the Coast Guard station there? Man... that's a very busy area and people don't know what "No Wake" means in NJ... I would recommend grabbing a slip at one of the marinas... Canyon Club will fuel you up in your slip... Rick (mistercomputerman) has a frequent visitor club membership at their fuel dock.
