I am considering adding Captains Call exhaust over the winter. Is there any one with tips or suggestions out there? Is Corsa the only brand available?

Do you really need it? I can think of better accessories to add for the money and time this project would cost.

Not trying to be a negative Nellie, just trying to understand what you're going for other than noise.

Anyway, welcome aboard.

BTW, the format of your post is unusual.

I remember reading in a boating magazine somewhere that GM small block engines received no performance benefit from open exhaust. Different story apparently for big block motors. For small blocks the article stated it was a waste of money....unless you just like the sound.

I also have a 250 SLX. I definitely would have installed the Corsa if my boat didn't come with it (for looks and sound). There are some good YouTube tutorials on installation. I haven't heard of an alternative to the Corsa, but there could be something.

I want it on my 340! ha but to cheap. I love to hear the big blocks on all my old boats (I came from the go fast world, drive pretty roudy cars... so nothing is quite.. other then the searay. ha)

I never use mine. It is profoundly obnoxious. If you want to give boaters a bad name, that is a great way to do it.

I'm glad you broke ground on this. There are MANY of us who hit the water to enjoy the peace and quiet and REALLY do not like the loud sound of a boat going by.

I live on the Columbia River and many times I've been inside my house and have had to listen to some boater (I thought of other names but decided to be polite for a change) who really thinks his loud exhaust is pleasing to everyone's ear.

It's not. Wanna pi$$ off lots of people real fast, put on a Captain's Call and open it up. Trust me on this.

When the music and the exhaust is too loud, you know YOUR too old.

Color me old then....but not too old. My Cobalt has through-hull exhaust installed by the previous owner. I like the sound sometimes but it can get annoying after a while. As for my music on the water, I like good full sound as much as the next guy but I don't need bass thumping hard enough to kill fish

My wife and I call it the a$$hole switch.

Other than a few times the first month we owned the boat it's never been on. The big block does sound great out of it for about 10 seconds but it becomes really annoying at speed.

You're right (note the correct spelling), I am old. Heading toward 71 yoa in a couple of months.

That being said, when a boat is running down the river and I'm in my house listening to loud music from the 60's and 70's, and I can hear the boat over the volume of the music, that's just wrong. At any age.

(BTW, the Grammar Nazis and Spelling Nazis are having fits over your sentence. Just saying.)

Exactly....that's why there's a volume knob on your stereo and an on/off switch on the exhaust
Your call captain

glad this thread was asking for peoples thoughts on it, and not how to and tips.

if you don't like it I don't think any of use care that do like it. ha.

I have it on my 8.1. Sounds amazing when I am in the mood. I perceive a performance benefit but honestly might just be from being giddy from the roar.

That said, there is a maintenance aspect (I have a drip on an actuator that needs removed and repaired), and little performance gains.
If access is easy, and you are ok cutting holes in the boat, the installation is reasonably simple.

Keep in mind, even when it is switched off - around the dock at idle speed it is noticeably louder than a boat without it. A boat I recently purchased has it and even with it turned off - you can hear it. This single 5.7 is louder than my twin 5.0s at idle speed.
