Hello All,
I have an '07 44DB. The salon carpet is stuck to the floor. It has to be removed to get to the engine room hatches. However, it is stuck so tight that it is tearing the pad away from the carpet. The dealer is replacing the salon carpet, but my question is this. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, what is the resolution to keep it from happening again? Wax the floor, something in between the carpet and floor? I'm at a loss here and want to see if anybody else has had this....on any of their sedan bridges. Jetlag.

before you/they install the new carpet make sure the floor is clean and rinse well with fresh clean water and let dry. then spray the carpet backing with an ample amount of DRY silicone spray
(3M brand preferred) which can be found in most auto parts stores. after this you should have no more problems...

I had the same problem.....with the back padding sticking to the cockpit floor.

My local marine carpet company.....installed a new product on my boat. Its a marine grade quality carpet with a new style backing.....it has a coating over the padding .....that DOES NOT stick to the fiberglass decking.

I've had it now for 3 seasons with great success. Its been exposed to sun....water and heat with NO sticking. I even have it on my upper platform....where it takes a beating.

I don't know the manufactures name.........but may be able to contact my installer for that info.

I've got an '06 44DB and had this very same issue tonight. I wanted to check the coolant in each engine and since the radiator cap is close to the bottom of the hatch I planned on removing the carpet and opening the hatches. Surprise.....the carpet backing was stuck to the fiberglass floor. I didn't go very far but this obviously is an issue. I'll try to use something to pry the backing from the floor slowly and then coat it with something.:smt021

I'd really like to get the name of that carpet material/manufacturer. My aft carpet backing is totally trashed and has left a mess on the fiberglass deck.

Also, does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to remove the rubber backing from the fiberglass as it seems to have welded itself to the deck quite well. Scrubing with a stiff brush and normal boat soaps has done little.

I just had carpets made from snapincarpets.com; It has the same newer backing that is pictured in a post above. It stays put, but doesn't stick. Just ask them for the carpet samples that do NOT have the black pebble backing. My new carpets are fantastic. I cannot say enough nice things about that company.

Same question here. My floor is more black than white, and I can't seem to get it off, no matter what I use. Suggestions welcome.

For those of us lucky enough to have the pebble backing on the cockpit carpeting:
Before you try to pull it up, get out the hose, and spray between the edges of the carpet and the deck. Keep working the spray under the carpet, it will release without leaving the black backing stuck to your fiberglas.

Your carpet will be intact, although wet. My plan is to see if the white Elastomeric paint from Home Depot will cover the black pebble, and do better with sticking.
