Hello, I am a new boat owner and new to this forum...so please do not yell at me if I am doing something wrong :smt001. I have a 1997 330DA...so much information here...so far I have learned how to replace instrument planels, new screens/gaskets, new Clarion 303, speakers...and much more...thanks for all the knowledge!

I am now trying to replace the Clarion MW1 wired remote...I see many of done it, but I cannot find a post that explains how??? I cannot seem to get access to the back of the existing remote. Do I access through the radio hole...or remove the instrument panel again? Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

The remote is at the helm, correct? If so if you have a breaker panel below the helm just release the straps holding it in place and you should have access behind your helm to access the retaining screws for the MW1.

As stated above, I believe I removed the fuse panel below the remote to gain access to the back of it. Then you remove the nuts & the bracket that holds it in place will slide off & you can pull it out. Are you upgrading your stereo or just replacing the old remote with a new one of same era? If you are running a new wire then there is more to it which I have done recently.
Welcome to CSR! I like your boat! : )

You might think about the wireless remote. I have installed both type on my boat and use the wireless more than the wired.

Thanks for the good information! So far, I have replaced the old Clarion with the Clarion M303. I replaced the 4 cockpit speakers...leaving the cabin speakers for now. I added an Amp. I am thinking that my wife and 14 year old will be controlling most of the music/volume, etc from their phones. I would like to install the MW1 wired remote so I at least have some control when necessary...and since I am replacing instrument panels, I think a new remote will look better. When I get access from the fuse box, I am hoping that I can tape the new cable that I purchased to the existing, pull it through and connect to the new 303??? That is my hope. Boat is at marine repair shop right now getting some things done to it, so I will most likely have the pros cut the larger hole. Please let me know if you have any additional insight and I appreciate your thoughts! Thanks.

I did the same upgrade. I followed the old wire and that worked well. If you can, attach a follow line an then run the iPod connection from the radio head unit to the helm and make a docking station on your helm. Then you have full control :)

The M303 has Bluetooth so this is not needed.

The way SR ran my remote wire we gad to cut it out as it was bunched with other wires.
