I have a 99 310 Sundancer, all four Clarion original speakers are blown out in the cockpit area. I'm looking for suggestions on Direct replacement that sound good. Anyone have any suggestions?

I replaced the ones on my 01 380 for JL audio mx650-ccx-cg-wh. I’m assuming they should work for yours.

thank you, just checked them out. That model has been discontinued by Crutchfield, however their new replacement go for about 230 a pair. I don't have any big amp or anything to justify that cost. Just looking for good sound at a reasonable price. Thank you for your help

What size are the cutouts for the replacement pair, or the current set? Maybe use that on crutch field to find a new set?? Don’t forget to measure the depth on your current speakers...

Are you sure they are blown? My boat had a low pass filter setting on the clarion stereo unit that made all 4 cockpit speakers sound very muffled and almost inaudible. The cabin speakers worked fine. Changing this setting brought them right back. It was buried and hard to find in the radio settings.

Yes, removed a grill and the speaker cone was gone. Thanks for the info!!

Didn't measure the hole yet. It sounds like all the new speakers need to have the holes enlarged though. Thanks for the info!!

The hole spaces are all slightly different. I replaced my two cockpit speakers with JL Audio 6.5" and the holes were almost the same. I had to shift one of the 4 I think. My Clarion's did the same as yours. The foam surrounds were completely gone.

Another vote for the JL MX650s. You can run these with or without an amp. (Obviously will be better with a small amp). They will fit right in the clarion holes. You should be able to find them under $200 a set.

I’d expect you will be at least $100 a set for any name brand marine speaker. The JLs are worth the extra $100; they hold up in a boating environments.

4th season on my 6.5 and 7.7 JLs in my 2000 310 cockpit. Great sound, Build quality and built for Marime environment. FYI the arch set are powered by the Factory Clarion 30w amp.

Infinity 612M fit the cutout holes perfectly on my 1998 250 Sundancer. Sold the boat -speakers listed for sale.

Do you still have this stereo? Thanks, Doug in California.

I upgraded my Clarion with new Clarion M505 head, amp, and their top-line speakers... I removed the lower head unit in the salon, I replaced with another amp and volume control knob. The one head unit now runs the boat up & down. I have remotes mounted on each side of the radar arch and I stream all of the time off of my phone so there's another remote there.

I had a local audio company install JL marine audio with subs and a new head unit that eliminated the clarion head unit they also cleaned up the switch panel where that head unit that was the size of an 80’s vcr was located. Great sound and you can Bluetooth your iPhone hands free calling and xm too! JL audio sounds amazing.
