I added an Aux in jack at the helm, and connected to the back of the Clarion head unit with RCA cables.
If the head unit is on FM, AM or Aux then you can hear what's hooked up through this RCA cable no matter what, as long as the volume is higher than zero. So say you set it to an FM station, as you raise the volume on the Clarion, the FM station keeps getting louder but the RCA/Aux in sounds stay at the same level. And I only hear the RCA from the 2 cabin speakers not the cockpit speakers. I can hear the FM or AM radio just fine from all 6 speakers.
Kinda stumped here! There were two sets of RCA inputs behind the deck: one pair had rubber plugs over the end and I assumed those were for a subwoofer out (I don't have the sub option). So I hooked into the other pair of inputs and I get the above
