For the A/C and Genset. How do you take them apart to clean them out. I see the plastic lid you can see in but the bolts are upside down. Does the bottom piece unscrew from the top?

The clear plastic lid that you are looking at just screws off. Unscrew the entire cap and remove the basket inside. Clean it out and replace. Close the seacocks first, of course.

boat is out of the water. The screws seem to be upside down correct? I can't see what it is, philips, common, allen, open-ended wrench...

I don't have screws on mine. The entire cap unscrews from the housing. My boat is only one year newer and I'm sure we have the same strainers.

So that plastic piece with the three nubs sticking out unscrews? I was talking about the screws that hold the entire bowl to the brass housing cap.

Here maybe this?

Yours might be different but this is what I have, http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|51|305312|614247&id=852022
I unscrew the top, pull the basket out and do all washing of the bowl from there. I don't remove the bowl to wash it.

I have the Groco Strainers like Woody. If you have those, a Groco spanner wrench can make life easier too.

Hey, Back9Tiger, don't be afraid to call on Little Mike over at Nunmaker's. I don't know if you bought from him (I didn't) but he's a wealth of information and willing to help out. I called him on a couple of issues I had and he immediately responded and gave very valuable tips.

Holla at me if you ever make it over to Da Southshore:thumbsup:

When I clean my Groco strainers, instead of taking that plastic drain out of the bottom of the bowl to drain it, I use a 5 gallon shop vac and suck all of the water and debris out. Those little drain plugs can be a challenge to reseal.

@ Kreole Kid, no I did not get this one from them. Bought my prior two, not a real great experience. I'd rather go at it from other sources. Thanks though, Glad to know you are around. Should be back in the Tchfuncte by the end of the month. I had a 220 select pewter hull that always ran two gold LSU flags (if you might have noticed). 29 Sundancer 2007 now. Same pewter hull.

I've used a "strap wrench" to unscrew the top off my strainers. Works like a charm and can be purchased at your local dollar store!

I've only been over there one time in my 340 because I didn't know the correct course to take, but my buddies over here showed me the way a couple of months back. I previously owned a 19' Chaparral, so I trailered that puppy wherever I went.

Hope to see ya on the water this summer, we always raft up during the summer by the old Pontchatrain Beach area on the Southshore.

Since I have your attention, would you know where the A/C condenser unit is so I can check the pan and clean the filter? i was told it is under the v berth bed but all i found was some storage up to the front of the bow under the v berth.

Tiger, go to the SR site under customer support and download the owners manual and parts manual for your boat, it'll help you find stuff. If your A/C unit isn't under the v-berth like you thought I would think it could be under one of the seats by the table, like mine...just guessing.
