Just trying to get ideas/products that you guys have used to clean your swim platforms.
How do you keep em clean?
Do you wax them? seems counter-productive:huh:

I clean my swim platform with the same deck soap as the rest of the decks. If yours is really soiled, softscrub can help, but only as a now and then cleaner.

I wax ALL of my non-skid.... it keep everybody on the decks on their toes.... especially the non-boaters.

You know what I've found best for cleaning my swim platform is the dang Florida Rain.

There have been times I've scrubed and cleaned it till I was ready to pass out and it still didn't look 100% but then when it rains it looks like new when it drys.

microfiber mitt and a good quality boat wash. To keep them clean scrub regularly.... yes I know it is not a popular answer.... but looking good take a little work. I do wax the non-skid areas such as the swim platform. Keeping your boat (all parts) properly polished and waxed will always make things easier at clean up time.

I would not use toilet cleaners to clean the gelcoat.

Orpin boat soap like the rest of the boat. If still dirty, then Non-skid deck cleaner....if still dirty "On-Off".

I have a new platform on my '89 340 and have ducks that think it's their toilet. I have had to use Soft Scrub and a brush occasionally and it works great.

OK, I'll pile on..
If it's in bad shape, scrub it up with a stiff nylon brush and some strong detergent like Fantastic or 409 and flush well with fresh water.
Next, slather it up with your favorite wax, to include the non-slip surface. Let the wax dry completely! Take your DRY stiff nylon brush and brush the wax residue out of the non-slip pattern. Finish the job off with a terry cloth towel.
If you can just keep people with the wrong kind of shoes off your platform it will stay nice looking as long as a normal wax job lasts on other parts of the boat.

Cheers,

Jim

Tidy Bowl works really well on swim platforms. Soft n Scrub with Bleach does about as good. Usually add one of the two before I wash the boat. I move it around to cover the area and come back when the washing is done and hit it with the brush on a pole and rinse. Some people will no doubt say this is hard on the gel coat, but neither one of these products is a gel coat solvent (such as acetone) and it's simply not the case. Both products do remove wax so I wipe the areas out side the non skid with liquid wax to protect those areas.
