In general you get what you pay for but, has any organization done comparisons on Holding Tank Vent Filters? We see such a wide range of costs and have come to the last of the name brand ones from the case. thanks, Mike

Make your own….. I have been doing it for years…. Works perfect

I believe these are a scam….we pump our tank regularly and use the proper chemicals, and NO filter. Have no noticeable odors from vent.

Strange. Works for me. But just in case...

Just in case we want to be invited back to to ports we visit. Along with head chemicals I change our holding tank vent filter 1X year. Changing my last one today but, keep one on hand. We average fueling about every two weeks and a pump out is free.

Everything I read on holding tanks, including the infamous boat odor book, says you don't need a filter if you do it right. I've never had that odor problem on any boat I've owned. In all my years of boating and boat ownership I think I've changed out the filter once.

We removed the filter also. We had no filter on our 500DA for 15 yrs. We kept proper chemicals in the tank and never had an issue. Not all boats come with filters from the factory. I was told it will just vent naturally without one. The filter holds the stink in, that's why that first flush is usually so bad, with the filter on the odor is being pushed out all at once.
