Hi everyone, what a great site, and extremely helpful to newbies like me. I have just sold my yacht and looking for a cruiser. The Admiral and I have settled on the Sea Ray 275 Sundancer (AKA 260) but will have to choose between two I think. I have read all the advice regarding handling but have decided on the 2005-2008 model....it has the Admiral's approval and a great layout for the two of us and friends. My question is how do I differentiate between two boats almost identical, except one is white and the other black? One has 300hrs on the drive and the other about 120, both in salt water. The boat will be used 12 months as we don't really have winter here.

Many thanks,

Bruce

Hello Bruce, welcome to CSR, not sure if I have an opinion, but if you put this question in the 260 thread they might help you.

My thought is white hull with 120 hours! That would be my pick.

How hot is it during the summer? The black can really heat up a boat. Firecadet here put in a bigger AC to cool his 260 size navy hull boat. PM him for details.

Black is really a pain to keep nice, been there.

But when it is clean/shiny black does look good and is a little different from the usual white boats.

If everything else is the same, AC/heat, generator, windlass, radio/TV etc I would just go for whichever is the cleaner boat overall. Hours are close enough, but sometimes a well taken care of and loved 300 hour boat can be nicer than an abused 120 hour boat..
