Can anyone tell me what the converter breaker does. I dont see any change when activated. maybee not working however if i new what it did i could check. I asume it converts 12vlt to 110 or vis-versa?

Usually this circuit powers your on board 12 volt charger. It will typically ramp up to feed any 12 volt load that you might be using at the same time. If you leave it off and continue to run 12 volt loads, you will drain your battery.

Not trying to be a nit picker, the Convertor is a 110 volt battery charger for when the boat is attached to shore power (or a running generator). If you are not connected to shore power, then it does nothing.

Turning the convertor on (while on shore power) will charge both of your batteries regardless of battery switch setting. However, when running the engine, you must set the battery switch to 'both' to charge both batteries from the engine alternator. Otherwise the alternator will only charge the battery that is connected to the engine.

Leave it on while connected to shore power, when not connected to shore power it can do nothing unless you have a generator which you don't.

As a general practice you should leave all of the AC breakers off when not connected to shore power. There is no impact to the AC system when off shore power. However, it is better (and safer) to connect shore power to the boat when nothing is on. Leaving everything off lets you get back to the distribution panel and check for reversed polarity before any circuits are energized.
