correct prop size

I recently re-powered my 1996 25DA with a 383 stroker small block v8 with 350hp
max rpm is 4800 to 5200 Currently can only reach 4200 rpm max 32mph. The props on the Bravo3 are 24 pitch. I know they should be changed to a lower pitch. What pitch would be best? These are the props on the boat when I purchased
Not looking to run wot but I do not want to damage my new engine by not using the correct props.

I recently changed from 22.5" pitch to 20" pitch and went from ~4400 RPM to 4800 RPM. Performance increase was noticeable. I went from about ~28mph to 33mph and the acceleration was much better as well.

Shoot this question over to a prop shop. Boat Propeller Warehouse gave me excellent advice.

Talk to a prop shop, however generally speaking 1" pitch or diameter is worth 200 to 300 rpm.
So if you shoot for 5000 rpm target you need to reduce pitch by 2" to 3" ....A good prop shop will know and maybe have a prop you can test.

Wait. Something isn't jiving. You INCREASED HP, which means you should ALSO be increasing the pitch, not dropping. Your RPM's and speed that you are expriencing are not logical if everything is fully operational. Something else is going on...

-- Engine issues... mechanical/electrical/fuel... could be just about anything, even having the spark plug wires wrong.
-- Operational error... not trimming all the way, for example
-- Growth on hull bottom

Point is... the props aren't the issue - it's something else. Check these other things out.
