Countdown

Fair point. I come out of Canton myself. So Rock Hall is a quick scoot across the Bay for a relaxing weekend in the "slow lane". I'd never have by boat that far away. When I had it in Pasadena and was living in Ellicott City, that 40 minutes was still too long. Especially when you realized you forgot something... I'm now about 7 blocks from my boat.
8 miles to boat and there have been times I ran back home 3 times in a morning for tools. I couldn’t live far from the boat.

I know your location says Ohio, but you could convince me that pic was Tolchester Beach...
We used to boat out of skipjack on the sassafras .....the boat is on Lake Erie now... in my sig pic off the bow is put in bay island... my son and I were just talking about the Chesapeake today and how we miss it... enjoy what you have ..one of a kind place

The hardware store up the road from my boat knows me by name... I drive 3-1/2 hours

My wife gives me crap because there's a West Marine right at our marina and they know me by name, too. Still, I tell her it's better than a bartender knowing my name!

swear, all the bazillion memories of raising kids on the boat, my best was one October weekday, kids were in high school and wife and i took the bought to Skipjack Cove for a nice lunch, water flat, blue sky, puffy white clouds, trees all in fall colors, cool air, got home before they got out school. THATS why we have a boat, for those days.

May be never unless the borders between Canada and the US are opened. We live in Canada and keep our boat in Washington.

That sounds a bit like child abandonment. Are you unable to find moorage up here? Wouldn't think it would be too hard to find someone to do the 14 day quarantine with it on their return.

Sounds like a good time to blow up the dinghy, launch her from home and go on a clandestine international cruise after dark!

We used to keep it on Vancouver Island but there is a ferry ride of 2 hours to get to the boat. Some times it was full. Moved boat to Anacortes in 2013 as we can drive there without having to go through Vancouver. Worked fine until Covid. We felt covid would be over by now but based on trade shows I attend they have postponed them until August of 2022. We can fly to Seattle. But returning to Canada we must pay $2,700 each to stay in covid gale hotel under supervision then spend 14 more days under house arrest. So it is difficult to get to the boat and difficult to get back to Canada. In Anacortes we keep boat on the hard and they put it in the water when we arrive. Safe secure and dry this way.

I had a similar problem.A lot of Canadian owners keep our boats over the border in US waters. We found a broker with dual citizenship to bring the boats back to Canada for a fee. I was able to have the boat back in Canadian waters and use it all last year...it has been the best Covid medicine available. Feel free to PM and I will pass on his contact info if needed?

That's pretty unfortunate. Couldn't imagine not having access to my boat. Hopefully you can get something figured out this season to enjoy it again.

I'm already in the water so hoping to throw the seacocks, atleast the heat and start staying over mid-March.

Upper Chesapeake for me as well, Summit North Marina. Hopefully we will explore more of the bay this year. We are on autopilot to the Bohemia where we anchor and swim all day and try to stop at the Chesapeake Inn if we can get a slip.

By boat shopping continues....

At present I can hirer a captain to move the boat to Canada, just talked to him today arrange by the marina. His fee is $500 plus expenses. He lives in the area and it seems it will work provide the rules do not change. Only 2% of covid cases have been from travel across both international and provincial. Canada has almost run out of vaccine and does not seem to be going to get more. Canada is expecting to manufacture vaccine by the end of 2021 so the US Canada border will not open soon.

Man with how this month is shaping up it's going to be another month to get things going ...
Thankful for NASCAR returning this weekend, I think ...

As soon as we start talking about starting em up, old father winter has something to say about it. Lets not discuss this anymore until we're sure ... I hate snow!
