Any of you or do you know of anyone that has made the jump from CPAP to the Inspire implant? Does it work?

I have tried to use a CPAP for the last two years and just can't get use to it.

Is this it? Cause she doesn’t inspire me.

That’s the Jardians(sp) chick. She’s annoying.
I had a friend that went from CPAP to inspire. It was rocky at first with some post op issues. Now that he’s up and running he likes it a lot better. I was able to get used to the CPAP luckily.

Try a nasal pillow mask like the AirFit. For me it was a game changer with my cpap. I also got a new Resmed AirSense unit that seem more adaptive. It’s quieter too.

I’m watching. I’ve had a CPA for 2 years. Used it for about 2 months. I have a deviated septum and I get stuffy nose VERY often. My wife (anesthesiologist) says there is a bit of post-op pain from the Inspire implant (probes into soft tissue). I’ve been a mouth breather since young. Insert joke here. You attempt to mouth breathe with CPAP your head explodes!

Yep me too. Deviated septum and mouth breather so I have to use the full face mask and some nights it can feel claustrophobic, especially if one side of my nose is stuffed up from the deviated septum.
I have the ResMed AirSense and yep it is very quiet and a good machine, The humidity option helps with the deviated septum. I’ve tried the nasal pillows and would prefer using it over the full face but I haven’t mastered the talent of keeping my mouth closed.

My problem is I subconsciously take the mask off about 2 1/2 hours in and then my sleep becomes very restless after that, because of the sleep apnea and snoring.
I only average around 4.5 hours of sleep per night if I am lucky and just really worn out being fatigued all day.
Sleeping pills worked well until my sleep apnea got worse. If you have bad apnea and take sleeping pills your events of stoping breathing can become pretty extreme.

Just trying to find actual people that have the implant rather than just reading stuff online to get a good feel if it is worth the expense my insurance only covers half the cost.

The two people that I have found that got the implant said it is amazing and a game changer.

My Mother (75 yrs old) got the Inspire in the past year and loves it.

Do you use a chinstrap to keep your mouth closed. It def helps me

I don’t know how anybody can sleep with that stuff on their face, no way I could do it.
You get used to it. I feel much better in the AM when I wear it. If I have a cold or in ragweed season I can’t wear it. Slight stuffy nose and I feel like I can’t breath. And if I have had a few drinks that night I also feel stuffed up. So can’t wear it then. I hated the over the nose mask but find the nasal pillow version is great. I have slight deviated septum but it doesn’t impact me.

I've devolved to the full face mask and find it is the most comfortable.

I tried the nasal pillows at first, lasted about three days. Kept waking up because I was motorboating titties.

The Resmed F20 was crushing my oversized shnoz to maintain a good seal.

It takes effort to get used to wearing a CPAP, but when you do, you'll look back on how you couldn't survive without it.

I agree, I didn’t really have a good night sleep in 20+ years before the cpap, sure it’s a pita, but I am so much more rested than I was before

I will say, after having read through this, y'all have brought to my attention one more thing that I need to be Thankful for, that I was previous unaware of.

Like anyone else, I have my share of afflictions, but very Thankfully this isn't one of them.
There was only one relatively short period of time a few years ago that I ever had trouble sleeping.
That is not something I would ever wish on anybody.

My wife is a surgical nurse. She gets in on the implant surgeries quite often. She said it works miracles for the people who qualify for it.
