I need Help!

I have a Cruisair SMX II in my boat currently. Everything works great on the unit, However the keyboard flashes and the buttons don't work "most of the time". Currently the unit is stuck on the AC mode at 70 which is perfect for most the year. We are wanting to sell this boat this spring to upgrade and I want to make sure everything is working the way it needs to.

I replaced the touchscreen Keyboard last year and it worked for about a week and went back to its spheritic blinking again. I tried switching the keyboard with the keyboard on my Dads Boat and it was still stick blinking spheritic.

I am thinking I need to replace the SMX Circuit Board?

Has anyone had any similar issues or have any advice?

p.s. If I was going to keep the boat I would just upgrade to a whole new unit at this point.

Thanks,

I know this thread is old but wanted to provide input based upon my recent experience. My 370 DA with two Cruisair units and two SMXii "thermostats" started experiencing issues with front (V berth) AC unit control. The SMXii panel did not seem to do anything. Display was lit as it should be, but pushing any button (on, off, cool, up, down, etc) did nothing. For same reason resetting the SMXii was not possible. The AC unit worked in its current setting (cool, 68o), but i could not change anything. Swapped aft and v-berth SMXii panels and the problem stayed with the V-berth unit.

Mark60 above nailed it. Seems that the 4-pin cable connecting the SMXii control to the AC unit (under the V berth) had slightly worked loose. It was still plugged in, just not fully seated. I unplugged and replugged it in and it worked.

Lessons learned:
Always check connections first
Diagnosis before you buy parts (i now have a spare SMXii panel)

Something similar just happened to my stateroom controller. The temp up button started being difficult over the past few years. Finally I couldn’t get it to respond at all. So I bought a new controller from Flight Systems. Then I decide to try taking the old one apart to see what was up. I figured the switch had gone bad. I took off the button pad to reveal the switch. Pushed on the switch (S1 in the photo) expecting mush. Well it clicked normally. So I plugged it in as is and pushed it and it worked normally raising the set temp. I put the button pad back on and re-installed it. Working normally. Now I have a brand new $175 spare controller. I guess I should have debugged before purchasing.
