We just returned from a wonderful trip to Bimini and would like to plan another one. Is there any interest for a 3 or 4 day trip over Labor Day weekend? We are open to a different location but since it would be a short trip, would like to keep it somewhat close to Fl.

Let's go!

trip for Labor Day

Hi, We went to Aquapalooza with Asureyes (Chad) and had a great time.. he told me Marine Max is planning a labor day trip to Grand Bahamas...I called and am waiting for the info as I'd love to go somewhere. The guy planning that trip is on another one and when he gets back he will call me and I'll post and let you know...

Any other ideas let me know too.

Barry

In the past, Marine Max would not let me attend their Getaways because I didn't purchase my boat from them. I see on their calendar, they are going to Lucaya on 8/31 and departing 9/3. I've seen that event and there are allot of boats that go there. I'll probably head in a different direction or stay at the Lucayan Village Marina.

trip

I didn't purchase my boat from them either, but thought I'd tag along if nothing else came along. Keep in touch as it gets a little closer and let's see what others are thinking of too.

Bahamas here we come!

I'm up for a get-a-way ... The rational destinations for a 4 day trip that is not fishing focused would be:

Old Bahama Bay: West End, Grand Bahama Great Marina, nice facility, nice staff, grear food fancy or casual, and tremendous snorkeling grounds along the reefs that are so close to the trench.

Freeport, Port Lucaya Marina: Great resort type destination, great beach, good food at two hotels, lots of Island bars etc., and casino.

Bimini: Easy crossing 48 miles from Pt. Everglades, Rustic Island with great beach, some snorkeling grounds in good weather, not much to be found shoreside in the way of restrauants, but there are some. Mostly is exploring on the water in the days and eating and drinking at night.

Chubb Cay: Chubb lays accross the Bahama Bank and is the best of a days run from Bimini. Chubb is precisely on the Tounge of the Ocean and offers some tremendous fishing opportunites just yards for their sea bouy. Some Beach and flats fishing possible. Small settlement a short distance from the Super POSH marina Condo complex. Much construction underway. Not much in the way of night life you don't bring yourself. Might be a fuel challenge for BarryG.

Nassau is just more than a days run from fuel to fuel and a stop at Chubb is almost called for to lay it in a day ... Long day. Whats available? Dock at Hole in the Wall and all Paradise Island has to offer. This trip would be mostly a boat trip.

Key West Well you know.

Whats sounds good?

Chad - welcome to the Labor Day 2007 Getaway! Let's plan on it and get others to go too.

I'm good with the 3 islands you listed. We just came back from Bimini Bay Resort and although it was nice, I think we would vote for Bimini Big Game if we went back to Bimini. Freeport would be nice but if the MM event is going on, it will be really crowded. We would have to check on slip availability and may not be able to get in at PLM.

What about Grand Cay? To far (122 miles)? To remote? Not enough to do? Ahhhhhh, Double Breasted Cay.... (where the pic of my boat was taken).

Input please.

Bahamas here we come!

Lets work up some options. We have different boats crusing range ... DB is a great anchorage and is at the outside range of my days cruising, but I'd need to clear at OBB and top off, We'd both have to carry deck fuel for BarryG I suspect.

Lucaya ... I bet we can get slips reserved especially if I Barry and I can get some MM slips sliced off.

Lets work on this.

I'm pulling After Coolers and H-Ex this week end, but I'll get back to planning next week.

Sounds great Chad...Let's talk the beginning of next week...

I enjoyed my stay there. It was similar to Cub when we went last time (last year). I was surprised at the number of boats at the marina. I'd say it was 70% full.

I agree. I am hoping that some other folks join us and have some suggestions.

I go out of Boca Inlet. The trip distances for me are as follows;

Lucaya - 90 miles
Bimini - 64 miles
West End - 70 miles
Grand Cay - 122 miles

That's the beauty of going with other boats. You can cross with confidence. Last weekend, the seas were really flat.

Barry

$2.00 or $2.20 per foot per day (depending on the slip location) plus electric and water.

We would leave early Friday morning and return Monday.
