Look for help locating a refurbished or replacement Cummins Smartcraft Vessel View for a 2008 Sea Ray 40 DA

Check out Seaboard Marine @ sbmar.com. They have a lot of information available on this subject. There are a few different threads here on CSR also, I remember someone listed a source for refurbished units here.

John
check out the "vessel view link" vv502 basically simrad screen.
i am looking into doing it also

Lynch, this requires a 2k back bone and I have a "Sea Talk HS" which can be converted to a 2k but with additional cost and may lose functions with Cummins. I am wait to hear back from corey @ Seaboard but I was hoping for a easier solution.

Yes,
Your correct it would require 2k. I've been looking for a replacement also for about a year. this seems about the only option i have found.
i am in the process of replacing my electronic now with NSS EVO 3 screens

You might try emailing and talking to this guy. He started a thread on here a while back and can refurbish these units.

mikeygfly@comcast.net

I believe he is in Ft. Lauderdale.

Corey at sbmar.com can tell you what you can use for a new one.

Lynch, what systems did you have? Are you replacing e120's? How did it go any tips?

Hey John Yes i had E120's. so far its going real well. trying to figure out the transducer now.
I will post pictures when all done. hopefully next couple of weeks

You may want to try maxmarineelectronics.com for a used replacement. As an alternative you might consider a Smartcraft-NMEA 2000 gateway and install a Garmin 8 inch MFD in place of the VV. Of course you will need to install a NMEA 2000 backbone but that's easy and inexpensive. The good thing is all of the smartcraft and much of the Cummins J1939 data will transpose to the NMEA 2000 protocol then any NMEA 2000 device has access to the data. Also if you have smartcraft gauges these can remain as the smartcraft system remains intact. Even your existing E120's displays can be connected to the NMEA 2000 network with a Raymarine SeatalkNG - NMEA 2000 adapter cable and that is inexpensive. Then much of the engine data that is on the smartcraft / NMEA 2000 network is now available on the E120's and any upgrades.
