Hey all,
Been awhile since I posted any pics of my ole classic Ray. She's running better than ever these days pounding lake Ontario at the rate of about 120 hours a season. It was originally a sedan bridge, but I chopped it about 3 seasons ago and built a custom raised hardtop. Had I known how hard it was going to be - I'd never had done it lol.
That being said, I got it done and have loved the added head space and usefulness of the hard top.
My conundrum is this......after 7 years of ownership I am looking to go to a larger boat. My Sea Ray is probably worth more parted out than as a whole boat. It has Rebuilt twin 165's , newer sterndrive engineering outdrives , lots and lots of new parts like carbs-intakes-risers, auto pilot, sea star hydraulic steering, all kinds of great lakes trolling stuff like electric downriggers, etc - so on and so forth. I can probably part it out and sell the main stuff in a few weeks for 8G and depending on how far I wanted to go with the parting I'd guess another 2g + is probbable plus there is the hull.
Since I built it, taking apart would be pretty easy and quick (but not painless). With it's age, I might struggle to get 7G for it together and I wouldn't take less than 8g without the trailer and a few trolling goodies.
What would you do ?? I always figured I'd be this boats last owner and I gave it one hell of a second life so I could deal with parting it but it seems a shame - and then I have to find a home for the customized hull. In the end, I need to get the most out of it to make moving into a new boat sensible but I'm torn and would invite your opinions on the matter.
Thanks for any input !!
