Hello

Does anyone have any reviews or comments on a sundeck 210 with 5.0 220 HP. Is this a good boat and can it handle lake erie 2-3 ft waves..Thank you for your help. I have a friend in ohio selling this 1999 Sea Ray Sundeck 210. It has a 21 Degree deadrise...I will mostly use this in smaller lakes but want to take to the lake erie island on occasion..

It's a very solid hull. It does a good job in handling the weather - as best a 21' can, anyway.

The downside would be the propulsion. If it's only got an Alpha, it will struggle to get up if you have a load or pulling skiers. Especially with only 220HP. But, the drive is the bigger issue. The Sundeck layout is fabulous, but more "people" weight can be in the back of the boat and that hurts hole-shot. On the other hand, you have a big bow so you can move more people up there to help.

I have the bow rider of that year with the same 21 degree dead rise. I do have the 240 HP EFI engine in mine. I spend most of my time on local lakes, but do take it to Lake Erie once a year for a week. We stay on Kelley's Island. I have been in 1 to 3 foot rollers in it and can tell you if driven properly mine does ok in it. I have run from Kelley's to the east side of South Bass (Put in Bay) in 1 to 2's with out any issues. I will tell you I got into some 4 foot rollers this past summer and decided that was not the place I wanted to be. Although I never stuffed the bow, I did get a lot of spray coming into the boat. I do carry my bow cover with me when I am on Erie as the conditions can change quickly and I would like to have the bow closed incase it gets real bad.

Another thing to watch out for up there if you are planning Island hopping in that boat, is the waves may be 2 foot on the lake, but the traffic around some the islands could cause them to be bigger as well as a different direction as the lake is pushing.

I owned a 1999 210 Sundeck but it had the 240HP motor. My use was strictly on an inland lake but the hull was very dry in the 2- 3 chop you get on small lakes. The 220HP engine would be adequate but if you are going to be doing water skiing, it may not be.

In 2002, the standard engine for the 210 Sundeck was the 260HP EFI 5 liter and the boat was essentially unchanged from the 99 model.

Do you think this boat with 220Hp is strong enough to pull one skier with 6 adults on board?

I'm not one to say someone needs a bigger engine "just because". But, with what you're looking to do with this boat, I don't think it'll be adequate and you won't be satisfied. Maybe if it had the Bravo 3, but I don't think that was option that year. You could add trim tabs and that might do the trick, but I would in no way guarantee it would do it.
