Deck cleaner?

i highly recommend getting a can or two of 'Bar Keepers Friend'...it is inexpensive and can be found at most grocery stores....it contains oxalic acid which does a GREAT job at cleaning fiberglass.....just wet the deck with water and sprinkle on the BKF over the deck and use a stiff bristle brush to scrub the the deck while spreading out the BKF...then let the acid work for a while (around 15 mins)...then scrub the deck again with the brush and rinse with fresh water....you may be amazed at how bright the non-skid/gelcoat will be after the rinse....if the stains are very heavy repeat the process....i have done this for years on all my boats and it works very well....works great for cleaning stainless steel items as well such as deck rails...

good luck...

FLR. Brush it on, let it sit for 30 minutes - then wash normally. Once its clean, use Starbrite.

A boat detailer turned me on to it. Brush it on, let sit, then wash. Fantastic on rust stains on both stainless and the gelcoat surrounding it.

2 different detailers have told me that they have used it for years with no damage to the surfaces.

Just bought some, thanks for the info!

We bought some Bar Keepers Friend based on watching @carterchapman use it on his boat. That is great stuff.

I had not idea they both had the same active ingredient - good to know.

Before we sold our previous boat (Doral 300), we really need to clean it after a summer of use and poor cleaning attention by us. In addition, the marina had just performed engine work and the mechanics had left greasy hand prints where they climbed out of the engine compartment. We found some inexpensive engine degreaser (Super Clean) from Walmart did an amazing job. Just sprayed it on, a light scrub with a deck brush and the boat was sparkling. We followed up with some non-skid cleaner on the deck to take away any slipping. Boat looked better than it had in years and we sold it in 1 week.

A bar is 14PSI. We use Simple Green and a scrub brush on a pole to clean. Boat is stored outside near 2 refineries and yard is gravel, we get stuff on the boat. After we wax. Use regular wax and apply it with a hand scrub brush in the texture non slip area. Wipe off excess and do not buff. It is not slippery and does not shine. Wax is for UV protection.

Has anyone tried the Sure Step products from Aurora Marine? The kit for the entire two or three step process is costly but if it works as well as they say in the promo video then may be worth it.

I did and I didn't think it was worth it after I got done. Now I just use regular polish and wax.

Barkeepers Friend is the best thing I’ve found for cleaning nonskid. Fast, easy and cost effective. Follow up with Woody Wax.

So I just waxed my boat. What product should I wash it with throughout the season. I do not want to strip the wax.I plan to use the Woody’s after I wash it.

You can buy oxalic acid online from a company in florida. Its been 3 years since I got some and have enough left for one more cleaning. You get 15 lbs for like $20 shipped and mix it up 4 oz to 1 qt water melts algea off or you can mix it stronger.

Just curious why you'd want to use woody wax after every time you wash the boat. With a good polish and wax it should last through several washings.

I'd just use a wash and wax combo like the one prescribed above. It'll be a lot less work and $$.

I have been happy with the Meguiar’s products for our vehicles as well as the boat. They make a boat wash that they promise does not strip the wax. There have been numerous references to Woody’s so I am intrigued to give their products a try as well.
