Delayed start on 5.0 normal

I have a 2012 205 Sport with the 5.0 MPFI, runs great, never any issues.
When starting, it does not start with a bump of the key, it turns over 2-4 seconds
before starting. Is this normal for inboards. I guess I expect it to do like a car and start
as soon as you turn the key.

It’s been discussed here a few times over the last year or so, most recently on a 350 MAG.

They do have longer cranking times, mine has always been like that too.

Maybe there's an automatic delay for the fuel pump to engage? I know I wait a couple of seconds to let the fuel pump start and stop before I turn it over. Not sure tho.

Just picked up a 205 sport w/5.0 same thing it turns over for a few seconds before firing. I think I heard somewhere that it’s waiting to build oil pressure when it’s satisfied it fires maybe someone can verify that?
