I have a 2006 44DA with twin Raymarine E120's. They both work fine, HOWEVER, I can not seem to get the depth sounder shallow water alarm to go off. I set it to 100 feet, and while in 8-20 feet of water, it will not sound and alarm or alert me about shallow water, not matter how I play with the settings. I am boating 37 years in 7 Sea Ray's and have never had this happen. I must be missing something and I am hoping someone can shed some light.

Thanks!

So many E 120’s out there, on various Sea Ray models, and not one response, cmon now.

And you are correct most here have Raymarine, but it seems most here have not ever had the issue you are seeing. I am all Garmin, and a quick google search didn't turn anything up except for the Axiom. I would call there tech support and see what they have to say.

Mark, I did a quick scan of my old Raymarine manual and it seems to indicate that depth alarms are only enabled when the system has a Digital Sounder Module; do you have one?
The only depth alarm I remember using was through Smartcraft which definitely worked with just the basic depth sounder.

Yes, I do have the DSM module, and have left the unit in fishfinder mode, and still nothing. I guess my next recourse would be to set up the alarm on Smartcraft. It gives me a reading as well, but I was not aware I can set up the Smartcraft to give me a depth alarm. Thanks for the reply.

So, maybe a couple of obvious questions...

Does the depth reading from your transducer show-up on the E120 (not just on SmartCraft)? Mine was intermittent late last summer so I am replacing the transducer to see if that solves the issue.

Have you confirmed that not only the depth value is set but also the alarm is enabled? I see the default is OFF.

I don't have a fishfinder so I assume there is no depth alarm on my E120...

Baj, if you're (sometimes) getting depth from the same transducer on both Smartcraft and the E120, you likely have a multiplexer in your system. This was typical in the time both our boats were built since, if your 'ducer was connected directly to Smartcraft you couldnt get the data on Raymarine. Anyway, after a couple of transducer change-outs, I learned the hard way to check that part of the system as well.

If there is a DSM the xdcr is dedicated to it and not part of any Smartcraft or NMEA network. The DSM is part of the Raymarine SeatalkHS network. So first the function of the DSM as a fishfinder needs to be verified and the menu that @bajturner shows becomes bold and the values can be changed. Possibly a quirk can be if another depth transducer is connected via Seatalk or SeatalkNG but I still think the menu for setting up the alarm must detect a functional DSM.

I have two Transducers, one is an Airmar located midship forward of the engines, which I believe is for the E120, and another at the rear keel between the shafts by the engine intakes, which I believe is for the SmartCraft display. I get readings on both, each differ .03-.05 ft respectively. I just figured out how to get the alarm to sound on the SmartCraft, though it is quick and faint.

I only have the Airmar located in forward bilge in the engine room where the main engine seacocks are. It feeds both the E120 and SmartCraft, possibly through a mux as suggested by @alnav.

I don't run at 2680 RPM all the time!! This was a WOT test. :)
